Sequoyah Council, Boy Scouts of America

Scout Expo is an action-packed event sponsored by the Sequoyah Council. The purpose of the Expo is to allow units to show off what Scouting has to offer for our communities. It is also a great opportunity for units to earn money as well as the scouts to earn great prizes.

Coupon books are available from your leader for you to sell. Scouts will receive $2 in Expo Cash for each coupon book sold in increments of 10, redeemable at the Prize Redemption Center. Look inside the tabloid at the great prize choices and decide which ones you would like to earn, then sell, sell, sell. All money and unsold coupon books must be turned in to your leader before Expo, so they can pick up your Expo Cash. Take your Expo Cash the day of the Scout Expo and purchase your prizes. No prizes can be purchased after the day of the Expo.

The price of each Scout Expo coupon book is $2.00. The coupon books includes a ticket for admission to the Scout Expo and coupons valued over $75.00. When you sell coupon books, you will want to explain this special bargain and wear your uniform to help promote Scouting.

Each Scout and leader participating in a booth at Expo will receive an Expo participation patch. A camping patch is available to those camping at Expo.

The Sequoyah Council, Boy Scouts of America in conjunction with the National Boy Scouts of America have created a BSA Historic Trail Program for the Tweetsie Trail.

By participating in this program you can earn recognition for individuals and for units.

The Sequoyah Council offers a variety of summer camp opportunities for boys who have finished kindergarten through 5th grade.

These include day, weekend and overnight camps. While the programs offered at each camp vary, all will have special opportunities.

These camps offer activities such as advancement, archery, BB shooting, campfires, crafts, games, nature hikes, skits, songs and sports.  Make plans to attend one or more of these great CAMPS! Choose a great adventure from the menu on the left and lets get strarted.

Council Contingents

The Sequoyah Council tries to send contingents to Philmont Scout Ranch every other year.  Our next contingent will be in 2018.

Philmont Scout Ranch is a large, rugged, mountainous ranch located near the town of Cimarron, New Mexico, covering 140,177 acres (219.027 sq mi) of wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of the Rocky Mountains of northern New Mexico. The ranch, formerly the property of oil baron Waite Phillips and now that of the Boy Scouts of America, is a National High Adventure Base in which crews of Scouts and Venturers take part in backpacking expeditions and other outdoor activities.

Philmont participants must be 14 years of age OR completed 8th Grade and be at least 13 years of age prior to participation.

The Florida National High Adventure Sea Base is a unique Scouting program that offers aquatics programs found nowhere else. Whether your interests lie in sailing, scuba diving, rustic camping on an undeveloped barrier island, fishing or a combination of all, this is the place for your Troop, Team, Crew, Sea Ship or Explorer Post.

Sea Base operates 15 different adventures out of four locations: two in the Florida Keys, one in the US Virgin Islands, and one in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas.

Northern Tier is the Boy Scouts of America’s gateway to adventure in the Great Northwoods. In the Summer, scouts from Northern Tier’s three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba. In the winter, Northern Tier is home to the Okpik Cold-Weather Camping program, the BSA's premier winter high adventure program.

Participants must be 14 years old OR completed 8th Grade and be 13 years old by the time of arrival
